#89 October 23: David and I have had several
conversations about the Homeless population both in Washington state where we
just visited and in NC. He found an
interesting article with statistics. I
would have thought that the top 10 states for homelessness would have been warm
states. Not so. Yes, California tops the list and Nevada
(#9), and Hawaii (#4) are there, but Vermont and Oregon are 2 and 3, along with
NY, Maine, Alaska (#8), and Delaware.
This is the ranking in percentage per 10,000 residents in 2022. And NC ranks 33rd with 9 per 10,000 and SC is
49th! I’m not sure what to
make of this. In a country as rich as
ours, we should be able to do better. 11/30
